The Lord's
School of Dance

About Us

We are a theatre dance school in the centre of Sheffield providing lessons according to the IDTA syllabus. We take children into our Tots classes from age three upwards, but you can come to our parent and toddler classes from when your child is walking.

Students can study all the way to their professional exams with the school. There are also adult classes in a range of disciplines and at several standards.  Most of our classes work towards exams and a bi-annual show but students can opt out of exams if they wish.

The school produces a bi-annual
show, usually in June, where all students get to perform on stage with full costumes, make-up and lighting. This is a highlight in the school calendar as each student gets to experience working in a theatre. They get the thrill of performing live to a large audience and to hear the applause as they take their bow.

Students from the school regularly audition for stage productions in Sheffield and beyond as well as attending lectures and seminars around the UK.

At the end of each school show we present two trophies. The first is the "Outstanding Award" which goes to the student who has consistently shown excellence over the past two years and been an example to other students. The second is the "Improvement Award", which is presented to the student who has worked hard to improve their work month on month and achieving their personal goals.

Students are trained and entered for examinations with the
I.D.T.A (International Dance Teachers Association), one of the biggest, world wide examination boards. Students can train up to professional dancing quaifications and teaching degrees in a variety of different disciplines, including drama and singing. Each student can opt out from examinations if requested

staff are very talented and very caring and the school has a good reputation in and around Sheffield and is often invited to perform at public events. We have even been the support for the world premier of the Royal Ballet's production of "Manon".

Teachers are police checked on a regular basis and also work in Infant, Primary and Secondary Schools within Sheffield and Rotherham.

Then school is run by Mrs. Lisa Mitchell who holds four Fellowship teaching degrees with the I.D.T.A, and who started the school in 1993 with the vision to create a school where excellence and enjoyment run hand in hand.

We believe we have reached it...
